Lady Lakers Capture Region XII Crown
Lansing, MI - The Women of Mid ruled the lanes in Lansing on Friday, dominating the field and taking home the Region XII crown. The championship is the third on the season for the team as they won the Eastern Conference and the MCCAA overall earlier this year.
On the day, the Lakers outdistanced Muskegon by 61 pins in the taking the doubles win. In singles, Mid once again finished first with a score of 2453 which was 132 pins better than second place Kellogg. In the first team event, Mid finished runner-up to Schoolcraft after rolling a 752 but rebounded to win the second team event with a tourney best score of 812. Despite winning just one of the four Baker pods, the match and championship was secured with an overall pin count of 7200, which was 373 pins higher than second place Kellogg.
Three members of the squad were named All-Region: Paige Vallad, "Lefty" Lil Massaway and Mya Jarvis. Autumn View missed All-Region honors by just two pins.
The All-Events Champion went to Paige Vallad who rolled a 1374 series. Lilly Massaway and Mya Jarvis picked up third place honors in the double competition with a 1010 series while Vallad was named the Singles Champion after rolling a 546.
Mid now turns it's sights on the NJCAA National Tournament, held in Lansing from March 5th through the 7th.
