Laker Softball Update: 4/15/2025

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Mid Michigan College softball team is nearing the end of its regular season, as just three series remain against MCCAA Northern Conference opponents. Mid will begin a push towards the postseason by traveling to Muskegon on Thursday for a doubleheader, before returning home to Mount Pleasant High School to face the Jayhawks on Friday. Both doubleheaders will begin at 2:00 pm. 

The Lakers are 12-19 overall on the year and 7-6 in conference play. Mid enters the week having lost three straight, following a split with Delta on Sunday and losing two to GRCC on Monday. 

SCOUTING MUSKEGON: The Jayhawks enter Thursday's doubleheader with a 14-18 overall record and 7-10 mark in MCCAA Northern Conference play. Andrea Romero leads the team offensively with a .352 batting average and 19 RBIs, while Olive Stall and Delaney Vollmer have driven in 20 runs each. Grace Lewis however leads the team in RBIs with 22 in 30 games played, while also making 15 appearances in the pitching circle with a 4-5 record and 4.70 ERA. 

Mid defeated the Jayhawks 6-2 back on March 29th in Ohio. Zoey Bacon went 4-of-4 for the Lakers with an RBI. Alexis Mielke went 1-of-4 with an RBI triple, while Brianne Halfmann and Phoenix Shaw drove in two runs each. Halfmann also earned the win on the mound, pitching all 7.0 innings and striking out three batters. 

A LOOK AT THE LAKERS: Mielke leads Mid offensively, hitting .462 with three home runs and 21 RBIs. Emmah Hanson has also hit three home runs for the Lakers, while Adria Reed has a team high four home runs with 19 RBIs. 

On the mound, Tessa Cameron has pitched 106.2 innings with a 3.87 ERA and 109 strikeouts. She was named MCCAA North Pitcher of the Week today after striking out 21 hitters in 18.2 innings pitched this past week. 

UP NEXT: Mid will travel to Alma on Monday to take on the Alma College JV team in a non-conference doubleheader at 3:00 pm from Scots Park.
