Lakers Softball Earns Six Northern Conference Honors Following 2026 Season

Macomb, MI - The softball program at Mid Michigan College continued to build momentum during the 2026 season as six Lakers earned postseason recognition in the Northern Conference awards.

Leading the way for Mid Michigan were Emmah Hanson and Faith Fisher, who both received Second Team All-Conference honors after outstanding performances throughout the spring.

Hanson turned in a strong all-around season for the Lakers, appearing in 37 games while batting .345 with 38 hits, 31 runs scored, 20 RBIs, eight doubles and three homeruns to go along with her 12 stolen bases. She also posted a .405 on-base percentage and a .500 slugging percentage while serving as one of Mid Michigan's top defensive outfielders throughout the year.

Fisher emerged as one of the Lakers' top offensive threats during conference play. In 34 games, she hit .462 with 42 hits, 20 RBIs, 24 runs scored, eight doubles and four homes run while posting a .703 slugging percentage. Fisher consistently delivered in key situations and provided leadership for the Lakers lineup throughout the season.

Four additional Lakers received Honorable Mention All-Conference recognition following strong seasons of their own: Gabi Johnston, Alissa Brandon, Kailey Cassiday, and Madeline McDonald.

Johnston played an important role both offensively and defensively for Mid Michigan behind the plate. She appeared in 26 games and finished the season batting .305 with 25 hits, 30 RBIs, and 14 runs scored while helping guide the Lakers defensively throughout the year.

Brandon provided consistency in the middle of the lineup during the 2026 campaign. She hit .404 on the season with 42 hits, 30 runs scored, and 10 RBIs while adding multiple key performances during conference competition.

Cassiday proved to be one of Mid Michigan's most dependable producers throughout the year. The freshman hit .429 with 27 hits, 14 RBIs, six doubles, and 12 runs scored while contributing steady defense in the field.

McDonald rounded out the Lakers honorees after putting together an impressive offensive season. She batted .364 with 32 hits, 22 RBIs, 21 runs scored, seven doubles, and two home runs while consistently producing in clutch situations for Mid Michigan throughout the spring.

As a team, the Lakers finished the season hitting .305 with 368 hits, 283 runs scored, and 113 extra-base hits while continuing to show growth throughout conference play.

The six all-conference selections highlight the continued progress of the Mid Michigan softball program and the dedication displayed by the Lakers throughout the 2026 season. The coaching staff and athletic department congratulate Emmah Hanson, Faith Fisher, Gabi Johnston, Alissa Brandon, Kailey Cassiday, and Madeline McDonald on their well-deserved postseason honors.
