WBB Preview: Schoolcraft

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The No. 10 Mid Michigan College (11-2) women's basketball team returns to Morey Courts on Saturday (Jan. 4) to take on Schoolcraft College. The Lakers enter the matchup fresh off the holiday break, most recently cruising to an 86-36 win over Grand Rapids Community College on Saturday (Dec. 21). 

SCOUTING THE OCELOTS: Schoolcraft enters Saturday's game with a 12-2 record and is receiving votes in the most recent NJCAA National Poll. The Ocelots last played on Monday (Dec. 30) against No. 1 Kirkwood and fell 86-38. Despite the loss, Schoolcraft is still a very good team led in scoring by Sharon Smith with 14.1 points per contest. Garyana Overton leads the Ocelots in rebounding with 4.3 per game, while Brooklynn Vickers is averaging 3.0 assists per game. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Last time out against GRCC, five players reached double figures, led by Alexus Dunn's 16 points. Dunn added five rebounds, three steals, and two assists in the win for the Lakers, while Paige Ebels posted 12 points, Rachel Resio and Chloe Watson scored 11 points each, and Addysen Gray recorded 10. Watson added seven rebounds and three assists, while Resio pulled down six rebounds. 

UP NEXT: The Lakers will have a week off before beginning conference play at North Central Michigan on Saturday (Jan. 11). Tipoff is set for 1:00 PM.
