MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – After defeating Schoolcraft College 94-82 last Saturday (Jan. 4) at Morey Courts, the No. 10 Mid Michigan College women's basketball team (12-2) will set their sights on MCCAA Northern Conference play this week. The Lakers open with a trip to North Central Michigan (1-12) on Saturday (Jan. 11), with tipoff set for 1:00 PM.
SCOUTING NCMC: The Timberwolves enter Saturday's contest with a 1-12 overall record, with their lone win coming over GRCC 59-56 on Dec. 7. Maziah Shelton leads the team with 23.7 points and 9.6 rebounds a game, while Camille Wardin averages 8.8 points and 8 rebounds per contest. NCMC most recently played at Mott Community College, falling 69-46.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Behind Rachel Resio's game-high 24 points and five assists, the Lakers were able to hold off the Ocelots last Saturday. Resio made five three-pointers in 24 minutes of action, and was named MCCAA Northern Conference Player of the Week for her efforts. Paige Ebels and Chloe Watson added 10 points each, while Addysen Gray and Delaney Seaman scored 11 points each.
UP NEXT: The Lakers will return home to Morey Courts on Wednesday (Jan. 15) for a game with Montcalm Community College. Tipoff is set for 5:30 PM.
