Laker Baseball Falls in Non-Conference Contest at Northwood

MIDLAND, Mich. – The Mid Michigan College baseball team suffered a 12-11 defeat at the hands of the Northwood JV team on Wednesday afternoon in a single nine inning contest. The Lakers (19-13) trailed 12-3 for a majority of the game, but made a furious rally in the top of the 8th inning with eight runs. The host Timberwolves however were able to hang on and earn the non-conference victory. 

Nic Stimac led the Lakers offensively going 2-of-5 with three RBIs. Brennan Hallman was 1-of-3 with an RBI while Caleb Thomas went 1-of-2 with an RBI. 

Trey Boven stole three bases for Mid, while Eddie McDonald also had a stolen base. 

In a bullpen game for the Laker pitching staff, James Kenney struck out two batters in his one inning of work. Ty Gregory also recorded two strikeouts in one inning.

Mid will return to conference play this weekend for a four game series at Alpena on Saturday and Sunday. The Lakers currently sit at 11-6 in conference play and are second in the MCCAA North standings behind GRCC. 

Alpena enters the weekend 14-25 overall and 10-11 in MCCAA Northern Conference action.

Following the Alpena series Mid will stay on the road and travel to SC4 for a non-conference doubleheader Monday. The Lakers will return home for the final four games of the regular season when they host Bay College May 3rd and 4th at Mount Pleasant High School.
