Baseball's Heugh Named National Player of the Week

Charlotte, NC - Mid Michigan College standout Donovan Heugh has earned national recognition after being named NJCAA National Player of the Week, capping off a dominant stretch at the plate.

Heugh powered the Lakers' offense with an explosive performance, highlighted by a 17-RBI week that turned heads across the country. His offensive surge not only led Mid Michigan College to a 4-2 record, but also earned him top honors within the Michigan Community College Athletic Association before being elevated to the national stage. It was his second Player of the Week within the MCCAA this season.

Against Jackson, Heugh turned in a performance to remember, going 3-for-5 with two home runs, seven RBIs, two runs scored, and a walk. In game one of the four game weekend series versus Northern Conference foe Alpena Community College, Heugh 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs while throwing six innings of 4-hit baseball on the mound, striking out nine and collecting his third win of the season as Mid won the game, 9-2. He followed that effort up with a solo homerun in the nightcap, scoring twice and walking once as Mid won, 8-5.

In the opening game on Sunday, Donovan went 2-for-4 at the plate with two homeruns including a grand slam while picking up six RBIs and scoring twice in helping Mid win a slugfest, 14-12. On the week, Heugh went 9-for-18 and slashed at a .500/.579/1.438!
