MBB Preview: Schoolcraft and Alma

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Mid Michigan College men's basketball team (9-3) returns to action this Saturday (Jan. 4) and Monday (Jan. 6) to host Schoolcraft College and the Alma College JV team. The Lakers return from the holiday break, with their last game being on Wednesday (Dec. 18). Mid defeated Lansing Community College 127-119 inside Morey Courts. Both games this week will be at Morey, with tipoff set for 3:00 PM Saturday and 7:30 PM on Monday night. 

SCOUTING THE OCELOTS: Schoolcraft enters Saturday's matchup with an 8-4 overall record. The Ocelots last played on Dec. 21, defeating No. 11 SUNY Niagara 85-80. J'Vohn Walker leads Schoolcraft in scoring with 15.1 points per game along with 6.2 rebounds per game. Marshall Thorn is the team's leading rebounder with 9.0 per contest. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Last time out against LCC, De'Antre Griffin led the Lakers with 34 points and seven rebounds. James Wright posted a double-double with 26 points and 13 rebounds, while Joe Iung scored a career-high 25 points and dished out seven assists. Amonti Greene had 17 points and eight assists as four starters reached double figures. 

UP NEXT: After the Alma game on Monday, Mid will be back in action on Saturday (Jan. 11). The Lakers will open conference play with a trip to North Central Michigan with tipoff set for 3:00 PM.
