MBB Preview: NCMC
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Mid Michigan College men's basketball team (11-3) earned two wins last week at Morey Courts, defeating Schoolcraft College 90-77 on Saturday, and rolling past the Alma College JV 110-63 on Monday. The Lakers now turn their attention to MCCAA Northern Conference play, beginning with a trip to North Central Michigan on Saturday (Jan. 11) at 3:00 PM.
SCOUTING NCMC: Despite the Timberwolves 0-14 record, the Lakers are looking for revenge as the last time Mid went up to Petoskey they were beaten 80-75. The Timberwolves most recently played Wednesday night (Jan. 8) and were defeated 96-75 by Lake Michigan College. Statistically Jackson Raymond leads the team in scoring with 12.3 points per game, while Jalen Williams averages 11 a contest and Jackson Wiegerink posts 10.9 a game. Wiegerink also leads the team in rebounding with 7.8 per contest. Jaeden Williams leads the team in assists with 4.6 a game.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: James Wright posted his seventh double-double of the season in Monday's win over the Scots, registering 21 points on 10-of-13 shooting and 13 rebounds. Joe Iung led the Lakers in Saturday's win over Schoolcraft with 18 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Wright just missed a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Vynce Overshown had 16 points and De'Antre Griffin 14 points.
UP NEXT: Following Saturday's game, the Lakers will return to Morey Courts for a 7:30 PM conference showdown with Montcalm Community College on Wednesday (Jan. 15).
